World of Warcraft Class Breakdown: Priests

In the World of Warcraft the only way you are truly able to understand all aspects of the game is to understand the classes. There are a total of 9 classes and all are accessible to both the PvE and PvP sections of the game. The only reason a player may not be able to play a certain class is because it may be designed for a specific race. Each class will have different roles and abilities in the Arena.

The Priest is a healing class and plays a very big role in PvE and PvP fractions of the game. Priests can be of great asset to any party because they have the power to heal and they can do it instantaneously if high enough level. With this kind of power, the priest is able to concentrate on more important things during battle such as mana burning, which is the ability to take mana from a foe and dispelling, which is the ability to defuse spells cast by the opponent.

Priests have three different specs that are all practicable in the Arena. The first is the Holy Spec. This spec is best for healing as they obtain many buffs to their heals through talents. The second is the Discipline Spec. This spec enables the player to have defensive powers and gain quick access to mana burn. Because of this, Discipline Priests are often the main targets of a foe. The Discipline Priest is the main priest used in 5v5.

The last spec is the Shadow Spec. This spec has mainly damaging possibilities. The Shadow Priest will have spells like Mind Blast and Mind Flay, which can produce great amounts of damage. Shadow Priests also have two very unique and damaging abilities. One is Vampiric Touch, which drains the target of hp and gives it to allies. The second is Vampiric Embrace, which gives ally’s mana when the foe is damaged.

The bad thing about being a shadow priest is that when they are in damage form they cannot heal at all. Shadow priests also do not get defensive spells as the others do. Priests are easily killed and that is usually why they are targeted first. The priest is regarded as one of the most well balanced classes in the game.
