WoW Class Breakdown: Druids
Druids are one of the two classes that
mix magic and melee. There are three different specs to being a
Druid. The first is the casting spec, in this spec the Druid can use
magic and shoot ranged weapons. The second is the melee spec, this
type of Druid must be in melee range and physically strong. The
third is the healing spec; this type can use healing charms, etc. to
heal allies.
Druid is a very unique class; those
that decide to take this path can shape shift into animal forms. The
first is the Cat, this form is quick and can stealth and is much
like a rogue. The next is the Bear, although slow, this form is
strong and resilient, much like a warrior. The last is the cheetah;
this form is used when the Druid feels it is time to leave in a
hurry. When in Cheetah form the Druid gets a plus 30% to it
movement.
The Druid has to master all of these
forms to play their classes to it’s fullest. Druids are considered
to have the most powerful healing in the game and are often the top
healers in 2v2 and 3v3. Druids have many great abilities that could
be great assets to any group. In Cheetah form, the Druid has an
amazing kiting ability. The Druid also has an ability called
Cyclone, this can make another character unable to do anything and
it can not be dispelled.
The down side to being a Druid is that
in human form the druid is very fragile. If the druid transforms
into the bear form they are able to last longer but cannot heal
themselves. Therefore, the druid is not often played in 5v5. Good
druids can avoid a lot of damage by using their kiting ability.
Although the Druid was extensively looked upon as the “small fry” in
all the arenas, they are becoming more and more notorious in 2v2/3v3
and beginning to bud in top 5v5 teams.
Moonkin Druids and Feral Druids are
other types of druids that are becoming more popular amongst top
3v3/5v5 teams. A Moonkin Druid is equipped with a small arsenal of
extremely powerful spells. They also have unusually high armor for a
druid and are therefore usually last on a targeted list. The only
downside to this type of druid is that they have little defensive
abilities.
Feral Druids are quite difficult to
play, but when they are played at top performance they become
amazing characters. Feral Druids can bring extremely high Dps when
in cat form. They have great survivability in bear form and can
control a crowd easily in human form. They can quite easily lock
down two healers with Feral charges in bear form and place Cyclones
well. This and the ability to heal make a Feral Druid a great asset
to any group.
